Joyce Huddleston Elected President of KLTA

I am very pleased and excited about being the new President of
KLTA. It was a great privilege to be installed as President of the Kansas
Land Title Association on August 9th.
First, let me introduce myself to you. I was born and reared in
Tribune, Kansas, in the smallest county in the state (Greeley) and started
working in the local abstractor's office when I was a sophomore in high
school. I invited my future husband, Jerry, to my Junior prom and got
married right out of high school. While we waited 14 years before we
decided to have any children, I was busy in the community with the
Extension council, Presbyterian Church as an elder, Historical Society,
Amusement Association (small locally owned carnival), our Centennial
celebration in 1988, Prairie Ridge Golf Course, Tribune Theatre, Tribune
Bowling Inc., VFW Ladies Auxiliary and many other activities. I also
worked for the attorney- abstractor, Brainard L. Anderson, in the office, so
things were always busy. After our children came along, I decided to just
continue working, as I really enjoy what I do. I passed my Kansas
Abstractor's test in 1984, not the first time though, missing the court
section, but re-taking it and passing it. I got my title insurance license in
1998.
While our sons, Douglas and David, were in cub scouts, I was able to
let the other den mothers be in charge, but as they got older, in order for
them to accomplish their goals of Eagle Scout, which they did get
accomplished, I got involved, and am presently the Tribune Scout Master
and Tribune Cub Master. Douglas is almost 22 and is in Manhattan and
David is 19 at Goodland Vo-tech in computer graphics.
